Candle Care Guidelines
Trim Your Wick
Keep your wick trimmed to 1/4” - 1/2” before each burn. This will ensure the proper and safe flame height. When a wick is not trimmed, the flame can burn too hot. This can cause a variety of issues which include, but are not limited to; candl glass getting too hot and possibly cracking or breaking, flame burning too hot causing oil to evaporate quicker and not giving off the optimal aroma experience, if wick is too short, not all wax may burn causing an issue called tunneling.
melt pool & burn time
The wax used in 1982 Candle Co.™ candles are made with high quality coconut wax and soy wax. These natural waxes have “memory” properties. This means that if you do not burn your candle for an adequate amount of time, you can experience “tunneling”. This happens when your candle is burned in shorter increments and wax is left over on the edges. To prevent this, be sure to burn your candle for at least -3 hours at a time and no more than 4 hours per session. Your melted wax (also known as the melt pool”, should extend to, or almost to, the edges of the candle glass each time you enjoy your candle.
Candle Storage
Candles are sensitive to temperature and light. Store your candle at room temperature, in an upright position and away from direct sunlight. Lids are not required to ”lock in” fragrance and most candle‘s fragrance will last for years to come.
