Understanding

Store Performance

Gross Sales & Average Order Value

Gross Sales and the graph are great ways to see if we are performing better than the same time last year. We can see trends in days of the month and also determine if we need to increase promotions or off site events.

Average Order is how much the average transaction total was during this month/period. It is important to strive for a higher average order value as this shows that our customers are purchasing multiple items per transaction. One way to help increase this number is to always actively suggest items when customers are going to make a purchase.

Sessions & Conversion

Sessions Over Time is a metric that allows us to see how many people are visiting our website. Each time someone loads our website, it is counted as a session. If they close their browser and then reopen it a few days later, this is counted as a new session. This metric is important for us to review - as it helps us understand products/promotions that drive people to our website.

Conversion Rate is the percentage of online sessions that resulted in a final purchase. We always want this number to be 2.5% or higher. Conversion rate is so important for us to understand how to change our website to best result in a great customer experience - thus resulting in them making a purchase online instead of just browsing.

Returnurning Customer Rate & Total Orders

Returning Customer Rate is a metric that allows us to determine if a majority of our customers are coming back to purchase again versus just new customers. It is vital that each time your ring up a customer in person, you ask if they have shopped with us before and if so, check to see if they are already a customer in our database by using the "add customer" function on the POS. This allows us to track how often customers return to make a new purchase and how often we lose a customer.

Total Orders is a simple metric to show how many in person transactions + online orders we have had for the month.

Paraffin Wax (Facts vs Fiction)

As you may already know, we use luxe soy wax and coconut wax in our candles and we want you to learn more about paraffin wax as this topic comes up often with customers.

We choose to use natural waxes versus a synthetic wax for overall health benefits.

Natural Vs Synthetic Fragrance Oils

Our products are all made with a combination of natural and synthetic fragrance oils. We use high quality, perfume grade oils and constantly evaluate oils to determine if they need to be discontinued or not.

Why it is important to sell our products in a quicker timeframe.

We work hard to build our inventory levels - but it is also important to push sales and turn our products in a quicker and shorter timeframe. Fragrances can alter the final product. Have you noticed some candles or lotions start to turn yellow or light brown (this is an example of the vanilla in the fragrance oil). Watch this video to get a better understanding of this topic.
